Strolls and Walks around Blandford

These gentle strolls and more adventurous walks are a great way to find out more about Blandford, its history and surroundings. Handy pocket-sized leaflets giving clear instructions and details of the routes are available from the Information Centre, or can be downloaded below.

Stroll 1 – River, meadows and brewery

PDF1¾ miles, or 2¾ miles with optional loop.
Suitable for all, including dogs and buggies.

Stroll 2 – River, Trailway and Milldown

PDF2½ miles, or 3¼ miles with Milldown Loop.
Suitable for all, though buggies will need to stay on the path around the Milldown.

Stroll 3 – Town Centre and Meadows

PDF1¾ miles.
Suitable for all.

Stroll 4 – Historical Blandford

PDF1¼ miles
Suitable for all.

Walk 1 – Railway heritage and the Portman estate

PDF7¾ miles.
Mostly flat and easy-going, but a steepish climb up woodland steps; down gradients are more gentle. Some stiles but all suitable for dogs, steps not suitable for buggies. ¾ mile on road towards the end.

Walk 2 – Lepers, disaster and two World Wars

4¾ miles
Suitable for all.

Walk 3 – Religious houses and the Pines Express

9½ miles (or 5¾ starting from Charlton Marshall).
Mainly easy going, suitable for dogs but probably not wheels. River meadows may be muddy during winter months, and there may be cattle.

Walk 4 – Woods, woofs and whinneys

PDF7¾ miles
Fairly easy walking, no climbs. Several short stretches on a minor road but mainly country tracks and fields, unsuitable for wheels. May be muddy, with possibility of cattle. Dogs must be on lead in some places.
